Based on a popular Finnish newspaper comic Pekka Puupää, this is the first film in the Pekka ja Pätkä film series featuring two dumb but amiable friends. The series was panned by critics but was very popular with Finnish audiences of its time. Basically a cheap knock-off of Laurel and Hardy, the humor in the film is pretty childish and dumb, at times bordering on painful. As a Finn, the film makes for kinda interesting viewing for its historical value, but has few other merits.
