Pêcheur d'Islande

Tragedies of the sea was a common theme in the silent era. The waves are powerful cinema, and the dangers out there easy to feel. It was the destiny of so many families back then, and it represented adventure. So even if the films often sunk in melodrama, they're, like this film, were well acted and brings a lot of impressions. And while Pêcheur d'Islande [Island Fishermen] (1924) doesn't reinvent the cinematic expression of the sea drama, it delivers a highly polished one.
