Peace on Earth

Plays now more as post-apocalyptic genre fiction than WWII propaganda, which I think says a helluva lot. I love how the refrain on ‘...goodwill towards men' simply disappears in the short's quick running time. Yeah, we know.

Feels more like a vicious cycle than a rebirth from the ashes. Nonetheless, I applaud it for its off-putting bluntness and for poignantly marking the beginning of American animation's World War II phase.

Really well made cartoon timed just at the start of escalations into WWII. Blunt but effective.

Very daring for its time and medium with some awesome rotoscoping and a cutesy opening that catches you completely off guard. Manages to succeed despite the almost laughable demonization of mankind (seriously, someone show this to the Nostalgia Critic - he'd have a field day).

Lacks any sort of subtlety, but for an early cartoon, this must have been very risky.

Preachy and heavy-handed as fuck, but it's really well animated and one can't really take issue with the message.

Poignant for a film made at the eve of WWII.
