An experiment to make the experienced stage performer Mary Ellis into a movie star. They play up to her strengths which is her operatic voice, vixen looks and expressive acting. But they just can't get it to work properly. The songs are plenty and forgettable. Even worse, the romance with Tullio Carminati has no sparks, so the suicide angle feels all too forced. Ida Lupino is the one ray of light. A interesting premises and it's different in a few ways, but the end result is a bit odd.
