Paper Spiders

Like a succession of slow-motion car crashes crashing into each other in slower motion. Few surprises, with a whiff of After-School Special, but having recently helped care for a friend who was experiencing something like what Taylor's character does, it strikes me as an unusually accurate portrayal of this kind of thing. Which I guess is its own surprise. As was Tom Papa-ing up. No surprise that Owen is very good. She's one of the best young actresses working. More roles that reflect that, pls.

Owen and Taylor are great, specifically Owen who has to handle some pretty difficult stuff. The flick does a good job demonstrating how hard and frustrating it would be to deal with a mother going through this, while also trying to navigate your own life and issues. It gets more powerful as it goes on but honestly, it is occasionally dull. There were elements (such as Owen's relationship with other people) that really weren't fleshed out enough.
