Wanted a flashy actioner, got a bland political thriller instead. Gotta love that the opening credits are actually more fun than the film itself -- and it enlists 45 producers, according to its Wiki page. Hauser is good, but Gibson -- which also narrates -- is here merely to save the day in the end. That said, it has its collection of Neveldine's typical wild bits -- dude playing guitar while shooting his AK-47, cocaine addict talking to a woman's crotch. Too bad there is just not enough action.

There just isn't really anything there. Hauser has absolutely no charisma, so he can't even make up for the script that is either woefully uninspired or trying too hard. Some dialogue is the equivalent of having characters in an FPS game going "GOT 'EM" after you shoot someone, sometimes it's best to say nothing at all. It's labeled a thriller but it's not thrilling. I only watched this because I wanted to see Gibson, who I guess does the best he can with the material.
