I love myself some Tex Ritter and his singing. So unfortunate that he rarely got to work in polished production. Instead you got to accept these rough creations for Monogram Pictures. Pals of the Silver Sage (1940) does manage to entertain. Clearly aimed at a younger audience with Ritter singing some kids songs and more importantly featuring the 8-year-old Sugar Dawn in her screen debut, charming her way through this little movie in fine style, almost like a poverty row Shirley Temple.
