Pain Hustlers

Despite the combined talent of Blunt, Evans and Garcia, Pain Hustlers is a dull affair that affirms Netflix as producers of content rather than cinema. The messy editing is noticeable, but the least of the film's problems. The screenplay follows a lacklustre formula; Act 1: establish protagonist's plight and drop in a new opportunity. Act 2: show glamourous new lifestyle. Act 3: show regret, conflict and comeuppance. The 2 hour runtime isn't justified as the film fails to achieve anything.

I actually liked the first act a lot but as things spiral out of control it's like the movie doesn't know what to do with it all, and it mostly ends up being a bunch of nothing.

Not too bad. The fake interviews are crap, but the rest stays out of the worst clichés.

Incredibly lazy even for usual Netflix low standards. But yeah, leave it to the Harry Potter dude to come up with such a facts-based borefest filled with nothing more than a huge cast. The fact that we see generic shit like this every week is the reason I've happily canceled my subscription.

curious to see how will this one tie in with the wizarding world

It's enjoyable but uninspired, which sucks considering both Emily Blunt and Chris Evans are in this. Everybody tries--and Blunt is masterful--to elevate this material into what it had the potential to be (a snappy, clever drama), but the script just isn't there. It could have been shorter because, after an admittedly good first little bit, it goes on autopilot and doesn't do that much.

Unwatchable, painful to see these actors fulfilling their contract and saying these awful, embarrassing lines
