Is it just me , or is this a charming way to portray kidnapping and possibly date rape?

I'm actually surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie. While the premise is goofy and fairly non-sensical it delivers in offering some great light-hearted comedy and also some interesting character development in our two protagonists. Hell, the fact that Kurt Russell comes off as completely manly and badass even in a role like this must say something about how great of an actor he is.

Among the best romantic comedies ever made, charming, witty, and most of all heartwarming.

This is on cable TV about as much as any other movie (except maybe Road House). The premise is entirely cheesy and the movie itself borders dangerously on misogynistic ideals... but darn if Kurt & Goldie don't have the best chemistry! The dialogue is actually pretty clever and the conclusion is delightful fun. I've seen numerous single women of various ages refer to this as their favorite movie, so take that for what it's worth.

Does that creaky plot device of amnesia EVER work? This flick would be an utter train wreck were it not for the considerable charm and skill of the two leads, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. The god-awful writing for the "nasty rich people" is just embarrassing. It just doesn't work...Hawn is just too likable for us to believe she deserves what's being dished out, and Russell just seems like a prick for much of it. More shirtless scenes and all would have been well--he's at his hottest here.

Both main characters seemingly have a pretty unbelievable turn around in such a short time, they are psychotic early on... especially Kurt Russell and his friends, and kids, going along with a plan of essentially kidnapping someone with amnesia and lying to her for two months. It makes the second half of the movie much less endearing.

I loved this as a kid but somehow went over 20 years without a viewing. Still enjoyable, but not quite as consistently amusing as I thought it was. There are very funny moments though, and the ridiculous premise permits a variety of both silly and sweet scenes. Hawn nails every aspect of her role; Russell is good too. There’s very little to knock here, it’s just not quite the film I remember.

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have good chemistry together in this film. The supporting cast are also good in this movie. The script is predictable but it does have several good moments. Overall I would recommend this comedy.

Hey ... it's the profoundly unfunny adventures of two of the worst assholes to ever grace the screen (the characters ... not the actors) directed by the awesomely untalented Garry Marshall. Fuck right off.

It's a good movie, even though the plot would be super sketchy if it wasn't such a lighthearted vibe. Kurt Russel shows off his nip naps a lot too, so yeah, very good movie.

Real life couple Hawn and Russell obviously have a good chemistry and the film has an easy going 80's charm to it. I doubt it would get made today as it's basically a story about kidnapping a wealthy lady and forcing her to do cleaning and housework; it also shows how the male/female roles have come a long way since the 80's. As a side note: director Marshall also made Pretty Woman; another rom-com about class differences.

No matter how much fun the movie is (and it is fun, with great sizzling performances by both leads), there's no way to get around that it's a gaslighting nightmare of kidnapping and a touch of rape.

Definitely one of the more enjoyable forgettable rom-coms I've seen. It's got a ton of problems, one of the weirder ones includes the glorification of kidnapping, but that's not where the real issues are. Really, it's just a rather forgettable watch, despite some memorable scenes, like the ending.

Amiable, old-fashioned 'see-how-the-other-half-lives' comedy is really a sitcom episode stretched (too far) to feature length, but Hawn and Russell make for a fun team and share terrific chemistry together; good enough to almost forget some of the more unsavoury aspects of certain plot points. Marshall's usual cookie-cutter direction keeps things ambling along, but film could have been better with some tightening in the middle.

I have a nostalgic attachment to this movie that makes no sense when viewed with any kind of critical eye. The premise is pretty stupid, but Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are just so enjoyable together that I can't hate it.

Goofy but vaguely entertaining family comedy about a single dad who convinces a woman with amnesia that she is really his wife and mother to his rambunctious kids. Harmless PG rated fun but not outstanding or memorable in any real way.
