At only 83 minutes, it doesn't overstay its welcome, making this a fast, funny, and sometimes even socially aware form of family entertainment, refreshingly adept despite its outward similarities to nearly every other 3D feature to have come out in the last year or two.

This was just too average for the cast that was involved with this project. It had a couple of laughs but not really memorable in any fashion. Kids might get a kick out of it and some of the jokes and scenes reminded me of something that the old Warner Brothers wouild do.

Painfully mediocre. With a cast like this I should've been laughing none-stop but instead only William Shatner was able to illicit some chuckles, and that was due to his camp factor. When one of the actor's voices feels uninspired you can place the blame on them but when all of them feel uninspired then there's a serious problem. This movie suffers from seriously poor delivery and expression. I was barely able to finish this.

The story telling is not particularly deep in this one, but it's a kid's movie. Taken for what it is, this one is actually very entertaining. The at-times over-the-top silliness works well for the movie. And it's quite interesting to see William Shatner parodying himself as an over-acting possum.

A cute movie, and a much improved effort from Dreamworks over Madagascar. It has its moments, with some creative action sequences and clever digs at our materialist social values, but...it's just not funny. I wanted some laughs from this flick, and made due with a few smiles instead. Far from memorable. In fact, I already forget about half of it. The music, all by Ben Folds, is the best thing the movie has going for it.

This is mostly nostalgia for me at this point, but it's still some fun above average animated fare. The voice cast is mostly good and the animation is pretty pristine. The movie is also quite funny and fast paced. It's somewhat familiar plotting is overshadowed by an interesting setting and some humor that's actually humorous. Good.

A really cute movie. Great animation (the fur looks so real at times!) It's a fairly predictable story/plot, but I still enjoyed the film and found myself surprised at a few plot twists. It has a nice message about family, environment and honesty. A few of the moral messages might need further explaining than what comes across initially in the movie. But nothing major. Overall a really fun movie, and an even better summer movie! :D

Compared to Hoodwinked (2005), the animation here is a masterpiece, but the derivative story and characters are less entertaining. It imitates elements of Ice Age and Pepe Le Pew cartoons. The annoying turtle character is the worst part, with terrible voice acting that drags the movie down. Overall it's not bad, but would be better without the turtle. score: 5/10 or 10/20

I'm more generous for kid's movies, but it's decent. Not the most marvelous, yet it will keep a kid entertained and is not too insufferable for adults. The plot feels familiar and already done many times (the betrayer regretting betraying), but the formula is okay enough. The characters could be fun, and the CGI didn't age too badly. They even did the time-freeze rescue before that X-Men movie did

The naughty and articulate raccoon R.J. (Willis) ends up in a forest with other animals who live under old-fashioned conditions. However, R.J becomes fascinated with the living world beyond the hedge at the edge of that forest and tries to apply his own logic to it when observing it. Everyone is encouraged by him and together they make frantic attempts to penetrate 'the suburbs'. This works reasonably well But to make the final hit and steal a large load of food they have to take a lot of risks.

Mistakes - 1) When Verne gets hit by the bike and hockey stick and goes through the hedge, there's no tire track on his shell while flipping through it until he shows R.J. the bike track. 2) When Lou climbs the tree, to tear off some bark to eat, the bark should stay on his belly but it is on his back when the kids are complaining.
