Outside In

A well-crafted drama that seems to cover all the different possible dynamics and themes of its unique premise (a variation on the return to hometown story) and central character study (a coming-of-age arc for a 38 year old) without over-explaining or getting sappy. The beautfully simple small-town-PNW setting, meanwhile, serves as the perfect backdrop for the complicated relationships at the forefront. And on that note-the music was great but I could've used less of it and more of the rain.

Falco and Dever do a lot of heavy lifting while poor Jay Duplass mostly seems to be there for the work experience.

rvw. i noticed myself liking the directing a pretty good amount early. i liked the romance and her bad fam making her want it more. i liked the daughter liking him too. he got unlikable and too beggy though. i liked how it helped her fix her parenting and leave husband and pursue career better, instead of returning to the simple life she was tired of with a new guy lol. the stuff with his crime and taking the rap for bro and friends etc was okay
