Watched this on the basis of that one epic scene on youtube, where the traditional instrumentalists do a musical battle with the Western instrumentalists. Even if the actors don't really know how to play, I thought that scene was genuinely fun to watch. But then you watch the rest and it turns out to be a dumb and cringey teen movie. I did like the uniquely Chinese culture twist: "We beat you hard, then pretend we didn't so we can cooperate for a greater goal."
