A última etapa estreava há 75 anos na Polônia. Inspirado na passagem de Mala Zimetbaum e da própria diretora por Auschwitz, é um desses filmes seminais sobre o campo de concentração, ter sido lançado menos de três anos depois do fim da guerra deve ter sido ainda mais avassalador, mesmo assim ele chega a ser ameno se comparado ao que realmente aconteceu com a Zimetbaum, mas coerente ao que aconteceu com a Jakubowska. Maybe, I'm being ignorant, but it's the first time I have seen a film about Holocaust where the focus is on the female side. Also, it is not just about the situation of women who had to be in concentration camps but the officers, kapos, etc. This film might be the most accurate representation of Auschwitz. Beautiful cinematography with the great use of shadows and lights. Even though it has flaws and some propagandist aspects, it is still an emotional, strengthening, and influential film.

The women keeping their spirit up at Auschwitz. While there's no escaping the gruesomeness of concentration camp life, it was more the positive moments that warmed me, like them protecting each other and doing their best to stay strong in this hell. Doesn't go all graphical, for we know life was a lot worse than this at Auschwitz, but it gave a solid insight about the conditions there.
