Leader of the Ten Kwangtung Tigers falls victim to drug addiction. The tragedies and drama that ensue are as stunning as the kung-fu, created by a superlative team of six martial artists. (IVL)

One of the last Shaw Brothers martial arts films. Brilliant fighter Lung Ti is starring as one of the Kwangtung Tigers. This might be his most dramatic role, and he really looks on the line of overacting for the most time. Story is pretty dull, but MA choreography by famous Chia Tang who also directed this film is very good. He choose to film it with extremely wide lensing, it almost looks like shot with fisheye lens. And remember kids - drugs will ruin your kung-fu!

Not just a good martial arts flick but an actual good movie. The themes are dark and the acting is good and as a bonus there some fantastic martial arts fighting as well. This reminded me of the Donnie Yen film Heroes Among Heroes from 1993, yes I know this movie came out first but I saw the Donnie Yen movie about a decade earlier.

One of the best examples of old-school kung-fu out there. Sure, it has the tried and true 'nationalistic' plot that feeds local and personal issues (this one's thankfully a little different, being smack and all). But its gorgeous choreography and cinematography reminds us this shlock is, at heart, still all about form and grace.

Kung Fu fans will find something to like with this. A cautionary tale about drug use along with loads of crazy cultural elements. Over the top sound effects. Fights with weapons against bare hands, and rather flimsy story driven by gang wars and avenging motives.

Maudlin anti-drug story, but like most later period Shaw Bros. productions it looks luscious, is well directed, and with beautiful fights.

Although it gets cartoonishly melodramatic, nationalistic, and didactic, I found this film fascinatingly novel as Hong Kong's answer to the contemporaneous "Just Say No" campaign. The choreography keeps up with Shaw Bros.' high standards, which doesn't hurt matters either.

Probably the most unconvincing anti-drug film out there, but it certainly is the most bad-ass.
