What I learned from this move: it's better to never learn how to swim and die quickly than tread water for a day only to get eaten by sharks after suffering from leg cramps.

Best scene of the movie is as follows: the few seconds you see female nudity. Had the movie ended at this point, I would have given it 90 more points. I saw this movie with a group of my friends. I remember coming close to snoozing around the middle of the movie. The end of the movie came. Most of the time we're divided as to whether the movie was good or not. This time we all agreed that what we had seen was pure crap.

Here's my honest opinion on the ocean. Did you go into it of your own accord? Than you probably deserve to be eaten by something, might as well be sharks. The relationship in this movie is so realistic that it's more depressing than the situation they're in.

Filled with suspense that manages to work for its whole running length. It takes a simple concept and exploits it for all it is worth, although it is no Jaws.

The not-fucking the night before seems like a real missed opportunity for them to talk in the open water about how they shoulda fucked one last time. Two beautiful people in scuba suits nestled together in the middle of the ocean tenderly talking about how they shoulda fucked one last time. That's a good scene. I bet that's the real reason the real couple took off their suits. So they could fuck one last time.

Wow.. this was a bad movie. The camera work sucks (it looks like they're trying too hard to be original or trying to be really PART of the situation) which doesn't work. An annoying, screaming, boring couple that over-use the phrases: oh, ahh, jesus, oh God. This movie could've been so much better. It's kinda scary though that this happened in real life. AA JELLYFISH! AAH SHARKS! AA MORE SHARKS!

As I am a scuba diver I can really imagine this situation which makes this movie more frightening to me than to people who don't dive (I guess). I really liked the realistic way it shows the couple adrift.

Sometimes I'll give a movie credit for it's concept alone. It was very brave of them to attempt a film that takes place in the middle of the ocean and focuses on two people treading water. But inevitably, that's what the film does. It doesn't really go anywhere and the two characters are constantly bickering and freaking out. There was no deterrence. They freak out, false alarm, they freak out, false alarm, they freak out more, NOPE, this time the threat is real, roll credits. It gets boring

The acting is horrendous. (No wonder neither leads ever had any acting career after this). I get it’s going for an intimate amateur video feel with the digital camera, but that doesn’t keep it from looking like shit. But the writing is very good. Firstly the dialogues and whole relationship. Secondly how it realistically depicts being lost at sea with shark swimming around. Most importantly it’s absolutely nerve racking, which makes it worth a watch.

I remember this film being huge for, like, a month in 2004. And then everyone had collective amnesia and forgot about it. I can't blame them. Nothing is bad, but it's just a low-budget film about two people in the water. Personally, I wanted to follow the guy who didn't bring his mask for the trip. He seemed interesting. Also, this has the most surprise full-frontal nudity I have seen in a while. There's no reason for it to be in this film.

I could see how this concept would be very scary but there just aren't enough moments of fear in this shaky-cam style drama. The acting was alright. I did find that the script was better during the parts they were in water than when they were on land. With only a few moments of fear and dread in the whole film, I don't think this is something that I could recommend to anyone and I especially won't watch it again or see any of the sequels.

Let's get the bad out of the way first. The camera work, cinematography and picture quality were shit and the music chosen was even worse. Okay those were my only gripes and they are big ones. The acting was decent and serviceable for the story. The story itself and how it was presented was really good. I enjoyed the realistic feel and the fact that the sharks weren't villainized. The ending left me feeling underwhelmed but strangely satisfied.

This looks and feels and plays out like a college student's movie, which definitely hurts it. If something suspenseful like Jaws ended with the last character dying, it might have worked, but as it stands, this isn't very engaging, the characters are hard to connect to, and I'm left feeling underwhelmed. It's definitely above average for a low-budget independent film, but those tend to make mediocre feature-length movies (and at 80 minutes long, it didn't stretch the story much).

1. Make list of bad things that could happen out in the water 2. Remove pirates and whales from that list 3. Add terrible script -movie made. I disliked 127 hours for it's 'coping out' with flashbacks but it turns out grim survival movies still suck without them.

The ocean is a big place. The ocean is so big, that if you become lost in it, the odds of anyone finding you alive are remote. The Bush years will be remembered as a time when people would pay good money to watch two other people slowly die. No, it's not entertaining, but I'll cop to enjoying it for about ten minutes or so.
