The year is 1900 and Wong Fei Hung and Leung Foon along with Wong's father and Club Foot face new enemies of China, this time in the form of German rivals and British forces, as well as the Red Lantern Society - a gang of women, who, like the White Lotus Cult from Once Upon a Time in China II, want to rid China of all foreigners. This time, 13th Aunt is substituted by her sister, Aunt May as Wong Fei Hung's love interest. (Wikipedia.org)

Not one of the better ones in the series; it's a little tricky telling III apart from IV, with both having attacks on foreigners and a big Lion Dance festival. This one's most notorious moment is the guy who punches a horse in the face. Like the others, this careens wildly between some good martial arts and some really silly sequences; it also has some interesting "villains" that don't really get to do much. The Godzilla-like monsters were pretty funny but not memorable.

the fighting scenes with dragon/lions are awesome, the story i can't really tell what it was about, because the subtitles where so very small and at times so fast, i just could not read it.

A movie made because the series was still profitable, even though they ran out of story and the main actor of the previous entries couldn't be bothered. But a man does punch a horse.

the plot is all over the place, and it's disappointing that what was an interesting idea for action scenes with the lion and dragon dancers in part 3 becomes overused and poorly done in this installment. Chiu Man-cheuk is a decent replacement for jet li, but does a better job in part 5. hark tsui shouldn't have let someone else direct.
