High production value meets lacklustre, simple writing in Once Upon a Crime. The story is an okay twist on Cinderella that hits a few more cynical notes. The pacing is sluggish at times and the silly humour used to move scenes along doesn't always land. The acting is decent, but the whole film has a live-action anime feel to it. The closing narration is pure drivel.
