Soap-opera styled film, packed with subject matter that was shocking at the time of its release. Now it's dated and a little creepy.

Tacky soap-opera is nevertheless engrossing and entertaining enough, if the viewer enjoys overripe performances, and at least 3 instances of 'love that dare not speak its name', though Mercouri's over-the-top, very non-PC portrait of a cackling, fiendish 'butch' lesbian certainly counterbalances. Earnest enough in its outrageousness to be enjoyed in a fairly derisive way; another strange entry in the 1970s filmography of Kirk Douglas.
