Underwhelming and forgettable. Oliver, like his literary counterpart, is a cipher of a protagonist surrounded by characters who are only interesting by comparison (except for Cheech Marin's Tito, he's pretty cool).

Watching Oliver & Company makes me hungry as fuck for Burger King chicken tenders. It's literally been this way since I was a kid. And they don't serve BK chicken tenders anymore because life fucking sucks so I can never watch this movie again. Perhaps that's for the best.

A too-often overlooked Disney movie. Awesome music, and some really impressive animation at times. There are a few instances of the use of 3D animation, but it somehow managed to escape the typical awkwardness of late 80s/early 90s 3D rendering. Sometimes you even get 3D animation mixed with the traditional 2D, and it's done pretty much seamlessly. It still blows my mind seeing it today.

The weirdest mashup of Lady and the Tramp, The Rescuers, and Oliver Twist ever made. Fifth best use of Dom DeLuise in animated feature films. Best use of Billy Joel in any movie.

(2014-15 Disneython #21:) Most of that 70 points is for the film's opening "Once Upon a Time in New York City" sequence, which establishes mood, setting, character and emotion as quickly and grippingly as just about any film I've ever seen (especially if you are a cat lover). The following 75 minutes of movie is a much more generic talking animals adventure that will not surprise you in any way, but has its own funky, mild charms.

Oliver & Company is not a terrible film, but it is visibly drowning in mediocrity. The cute kitten protagonist Oliver scarcely looks like a cat, the animation style is so bad; he compares unfavourably to the Siamese cats in "Lady And The Tramp" or Sgt. Tibbs in "101 Dalmatians." Jenny, who portrays his poor little rich girl would be owner, is supposed to live on 5th Avenue but her clothes and hair are relentlessly lower middle class. That's the 2 lead characters so obviously I was disappointed.

This film holds up surprisingly well. It's not a Disney masterpiece but it is still a great film.

A middling Disney movie with some really high points (the opening number) to offset the familiar non threatening formula that follows.

Love the music. "Good Company" is one of the cutest songs I've ever heard.

Oliver's got to be one of the most adorably animated creatures in Disney's history. That little orange fluffball just melts your goddamn heart. It's light Disney fare, nothing resembling a classic, but it's still a much better choice than most animated flicks. That cat, man. That cat. Those fucking Disney animators. Those... they... God!

Based on a well known story called "Oliver Twist", but with a "twist", lol, it does have some decent songs and pretty good animation, even thought the plot was a little twisted.

More Don Bluth then Disney. This is not a compliment in my mind.

This movie wasn't the worst Disney film of all time, but it certainly wasn't near to being one of their better films.

Ugly animation, most of the music is not at all catchy, and I didn't find it funny. It has some charm and has a nice brief runtime, but it is one of the weaker movies that is technically "Disney Canon"

A unique outlier in the “classic” Disney animation canon that feels vividly of its time – 80s to the core, from the grungy, cynical attitudes, to the (excellent) casting decisions, to the harsh and abrasive animation style, (especially its portrait of a bitter, unfriendly urbanscape) – unfortunately the darker story elements in Dickens’ original have been sanded off, otherwise this could have been a genuine classic as opposed to a fascinating piece of entertainment.

Better than I was expecting, tho still slight. I feel like that little kid design was in most of the movies Disney did in the 70s and 80s, and a lot of the imitators too. If a small child wanted to watch this with me, I would not be annoyed, unless it was like the fifth time that week.

I liked this as a kid, but let's face it... It belongs in the STV section, not in Disney's animated canon.

Boring, with unimpressive songs and a predictable story. There is nothing to praise here. the animation is ok, but nothing noteworthy. Overall, a movie so bland it goes from mediocre to bad.

This gets points for the awesome mood setter of an opening, But otherwise? This is a pretty stock film that goes through a lot of typical plot beats without really doing much to elevate them. Somehow they make that crazy premise for its climax executed in the most blandest way possible. On the other hand, the cast is so full of personality and charm that I can't say I fully hate this, even if a lot of the supporting cast is pretty superbfluos.

It has its moments, mostly courtesy of Billy Joel's songs and some good voice acting. But still one of Disney's notably weaker films.

Starts promising by setting the stage of the hard NY city life, while we meet its adorable lead in a heartwarming scene and than introduces it most memorable character, Dodger, with a catchy Billy Joel song. Unfortunately it goes downhill from there, resulting in a mediocre Disney. The movie completely downplays the grittier element of the Dickens story, it only very loosely still resembles, f.e. by making Fagin into a sympathetic loser. Cheech character didn't stand the test of time.

It's a big ball of cliches with generally forgettable music ("Why Should I Worry?" being the one and only standout), a dull plot, a tastes-like-diabetes Poor Little Rich Girl, and quite possibly the worst animation I've ever seen from a Disney Animated Canon feature. Only see this if you're a crazy completionist like I am - it's utterly forgettable otherwise.

I constantly watched this as a young boy. I probably know it word for word at this point. It isn't one of Disney's best. The story is very rushed and I personally would have loved more bonding between Oliver and the dogs he meets earlier in the film. This does tarnish my score a bit, but all things considered, it's still pretty well made. I loved the music (Billy Joel!), I think the voice work is solid, the animation is nice, and the movie still packs sole emotion in there. Very fun!

Typical Disney stuff applied where I don't think it belongs. Billy Joel was the only reason to make this movie.
