A male teacher finds it increasingly impossible to cope. As he unravels, what we are shown becomes increasingly expressionistic, which is quite effective, but by that time the audience already has a very clear understanding of where the film is heading and what it is about, with the consequence that the ending almost seems arbitrary and unimportant.
