It gets a 99, so you can tell I loved it. It is sweet, but is honest about real life and failures. Loved the filmography and the character development. Plot devlops nicely and isn't cheesy. Greatest Date Movie ever!

A nomadic young woman (Elizabeth Roberts) rents a loft from a man (writer-director Rik Swartzwelder) whose approach to romance is so conservative he refuses even to be alone in the loft with her. Naturally, love blossoms, but his guilt over his dark past threatens their happiness. The hero is an absurd construct (and Swartzwelder is no great actor), and at nearly two hours it's well overlong, but Roberts' bright performance and the relatively solid production keep it watchable enough.

Not the usual Christian ambush piece, but almost.

That's because amid all the complexity of grappling with life and love and faith, Old Fashioned never wavers in its old-fashioned convictions that Clay so laudably latches onto.
