Honestly would expect better of Burr. This is tired and unfunny stuff that barely passes the time. Eminently missable.

This movie just makes me think that boomers are incapable of mocking younger generations in a way that's funny. The most Burr can come up with is tired jokes about how younger generations are overly sensitive with no emotional backbone wherein despite Burr playing a bombastic asshole with anger issues, any situation he's put in we're expected to agree with him as the voice of reason against the numerous strawmen he creates. It's not only self-indulgent but superficial and trite.

Basically a subpar Burr routine. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it, because even subpar Burr has its moments. Old Dads tackles the same subject matter that he's been doing for a while, only with less wit. With that said, the leads have good chemistry, there is some heart here, and I did laugh a few times. And Burr's directing is solid. I just wish I laughed more than I did.

Quite amusing. Bit obvious, a bit cringe in parts but not awful.

I'm a bit surprised I'm rating this movie as high as I am as I generally don't like this type of movie. But anyway, here I am, rating it a 55. Nothing great, but it was fun enough to make the cut.

I love when baby boomers embellish how insufferable some douchebags actually are, when in reality it's like a tiny percentage of the population. I've never met people that talk like this, let alone hundreds in one day. It's as if they're projecting themselves in everyone they see. Yes they exist, but yeesh, if this was a reddit forum, everybody sucks here.

I would have rated more like 7, maybe even 8, if the wokeness of the annoying woke people wasn't so exaggerated.. I did enjoy a lot of the jokes, but some of them pushed my buttons too and reduced my overall enjoyment. *shrug* I can still recommend it. Cute ending.

"Maybe I'm the one who's wrong? No... it's the children, the children are wrong." This film is "Old Man Yelling at Cloud" the movie. It is the epitome of someone saying, "You just can't say jokes anymore!" and when you hear their jokes, none of them are funny. The movie consists of Bill Burr and his cohorts dismantling the most unrealistic strawman opponents. I wanted to like this film, I love Bill Burr's standup; his standup did not translate to a good movie. Avoid at all costs.

Perhaps it's fortunate that I haven't seen much of Burr's stand-up. I can see what Burr is trying to do with Old Dads, but the contrived situations and dialogue lessen its impact. Essentially, grumpy old men complain about newer generations. While they make some valid points and their situation is somewhat sympathetic, their characters are obnoxious as they act out. By film's end they learn to be a bit more tolerant while they enjoy everything that the 1960's promised and that they already had.

Quite disappointed in this from Burr. I guess I haven’t paid too much attention to his comedy for about 10 years but when I saw him back then it was a lot funnier, smarter and more insightful than this despite being filled with the same rage toward modern society. Everything they’re poking fun at is so easy and over the top with their annoying-ness. About as funny as a kids in my day meme your parents share on Instagram.

Whiffs more than it lands. Some moments here and there were funny and satisfying, but too often it was just annoying millennials dialed to 10 with little payoff. Cringe factory. It did do a solid job at making me hate pretty much everyone in the film though. Generous 5.3.

It borders on cringey through the first act, with ol' Billy Blue Balls attacking some of the low hanging fruit we have seen him take down before, but with very few laughs. Things get more relatable and introspective as the movie progresses, and then the laughs do land. The strip club midlife crises trifecta is the highlight.

Quality-wise, this throwaway film lands squarely in the middle of the pack: and that’s probably just good enough for its intended audience -- but not so much for the rest of us.

Objectively bad but it gets a lot of points for how much it still made me laugh

Three middle aged dads all have a midlife crisis: the movie. Some of Burr's rants against the foibles of modern life are funny, but its all material he's already covered better in his standup routines. A whole lot of this runtime is just meh, or annoying. The plot is serviceable, though riddled with contrivances, and the music choices are pretty good...but it all just slides by with nothing really standing out. No one will remember this movie in six months, let alone five years from now.
