If only more ostensible "making of" behind-the-scenes documentaries were this artistically credible in their own right. It's sort of funny how Greenaway's decidedly impersonal, detached, and formalist cinema could function as a jumping-off point for a dreamy, autobiographical essay film in the Marker/McElwee vein, which I would sort of situate at the polar opposite of Greenaway's style.
