O Matador

A brutal callback to the westerners of old, and a damn good one at that. The film builds up numerous different subplots and uses them to pile up the tension which culminates into the climax brilliantly. The themes are tied together intelligibly and Morgado plays his character to perfection. The way some of the subplots tied into the plot were a bit odd, but nothing in the film felt like it lacked a purpose nor was there any meandering in the writing.

Brazilian western, and it's mostly ridiculous.... which is it's strong point. Assisted more by the corny feeling of the English dub I saw, which was probable the right choice for something as silly as this. Kind of fun at first in it's free-spirited ways, but it got boring after a while and the story was just too much to take.

Brezilya yapımı Western filmi denince bile ne kadar özgünlük taşıdığı ortada. Senaryoda ve kurguda zaman zaman kopukluklar olsa da tempo ara ara çok düşse de değişik olmasının farkıyla kendini izlettiriyor. Oyunculuklar ve genel ambiyans başarılı.
