This is all very Marker-esque; a travelogue that consists of the purposeful layering of distorted sounds and images (both moving and static). It is also very Friedrich-like (Su Friedrich, that is) in content and form; a coming to terms with the father figure and one's identity through video essay that is dominated by the omnipresent voice of the narrator. But unlike Marker and Friedrich, Aïnouz maintains a warmth for the past and present while showing a desire to live in the future.
