If I were Christina Ricci I would be pretty pissed off that I was cast as "young Rosie O'Donnell".

Ricci's adult version being played by Rosie O'Donnell is a slap in the face.

'twas alright, but too cheesy, and not much happens.

It's got a great soundtrack, but I feel vaguely insulted that we're supposed to believe that Christina Ricci would grow up to look like Rosie O'Donnell.

Has a TV-ish cheesy dullness to it. Especially when it comes to dialogue. Like a wannabe movie. :D Only maybe Demi Moore, Christina Ricci or Gaby Hoffman can bring these lines to ife.

The cast in this was glorious. We had Garofalo, Rici, Moore, Birch - it was like a goth girl's fever dream. Unfortunately, despite the cast, writing & direction was all white polos & bib overalls, and the torment of terrible writing they subjected this cast to made it all the more objectionable. Like taking tax payer funds in the poorest state to top the skeezy WV governor's capitol building with solid gold - the way the script & directing mishandled the talents of these finite human resources.

A fine (if thin) coming-of-age story that doesn't quite connect the "now" to the "then" in a satisfying way. We don't really know the adults by the end, or how their childhood shaped who they became in anything but a surface-level way. Demi Moore's speech at the end was a writer's checklist meant to convey what they intended for us all to learn. "The REAL treehouse was the bonds of friendship we made along the way." Pretty hamfisted writing, but some of the performances were alright.

The acting was mediocre at best, and the plot line a little off. There were several lose ends that needed tying up. Some things just didn't follow right. But not to shabby

A film with potential, but that says nothing to me. I can understand why some people liked, mainly girls, but did not like.
