I really enjoyed this film. Its got a good mix of character development and action, with some really quite impressive explosions and other slick action based special effects. The plot has some twists and its pretty gripping stuff, with one very memorable scene involving a car, with a lot of destruction involved!. If your looking for a slick Asian action film, this may well be it. I'd definitely recommend it, yes.

A solid action/crime drama that's a little too long and at times preachy. The acting is pretty strong from all the main cast even if only Yen and Tse have a strong screen presence. The action is well done and the dramatic police scenes were well handled. At times this feels like a love letter to the cop films and heroic bloodshed films of yesteryear and at other times it was just trying to be a solidly entertaining film. For me, it pretty much worked on both levels.

Nice fight choreographies. The movie dragged on too often, and it felt like many different plots glued together instead of one arc with a few ups and downs. The flashbacks were not the best handled. I'd often want to fast forward until the next fight

It might seem a bit bloated -- and it really is, specially in its police procedural stuff -- but it compensates with tons of bloody gunfights and a beautiful final martial arts showdown -- full of policemen dilemmas interwined with a story of two cops on opposite sides of law enforcement, but still dealing with the grudges of a friendship ended in a controversial trial.

The funeral scene is hilarious because when Donnie Yen is fondly reminiscing about his dead friend, the only footage they had to cut to was just their one casual scene together from 5 minutes earlier except they put it in slow motion with emotional music as if those are his fondest memories of the guy. That type of cheesiness is abound, but so is a high-caliber of action that proves Donnie Yen’s still got it even as he approaches 60 years old, though it’s easy to spot his occasional stunt double

Actually a good thriller instead of "just" a formidable HK action flick. Donnie Yen and Nicholas Tse bring enough chemistry to the fight to carry the movie over its 100 minute runtime. Only the police pathos is a tad much.

A modern day Hard Boiled! Yen's action choreography is as on point as ever, with some incredible fight scenes that range from intimate and gritty to acrobatic and exciting! The chase scenes, too, especially the car vs motorcycle one, belong up there with the greats. The story is a bit drawn out and the editing really does no justice to the plot most of the time, but this was a very welcome action movie of the 2020's!

Ignore Donnie Yen, I love Nicholas Tse!
