The script for this movie has some weak and some predictable moments. But Tim Robbins and Martin Lawrence work well together as an unlikely and oddball team. There are a number of funny moments in this film. Overall I would recommend this comedy.

Standard issue buddy movie is uneven and unfocused but does enough right to be successful, including getting a genuinely good comic performance out of Lawrence; rather surprisingly it is a zombie-fied Robbins who seems to be more along for the ride, leaving the supporting players to pick up the slack (Esposito and McGinley make a great pair of foils). Ultimate story resolution feels like a bad shaggy dog joke but can't quite undermine the rest of the film. "I'm the Scatman..."

It's weird to see Martin Lawrence carrying a movie, especially opposite Tim Robbins, but I think Tim was truly bored throughout filming.

The only thing you loose is a little bit of dignity when you watch this horrible movie.

+1 for Tim Robbins, -1 for Martin Lawrence. There are just enough laughs in this to make it worthwhile.

I thought this was pretty enjoyable. Robbins and Lawrence are funny together and keep you interested through a mostly ridiculous plot.

The reason this works as a comedy is that both "buddies" are not trying to be funny ... Tim Robbins is great as the dour Nick Beam, and he doesnt try to be funny... the perfect foil to Lawrence, the joker. I know it is childish, but the trouser burning scene is an all time favourite of mine ! The film is marred by a weak ending and probably only really watchable once, but worth 90 minutes of anyones time on a sunday afternoon

Perhaps I'm rating it too high because of nostalgia, but the film is not all that bad, either. Edit: rewatched, yup too high.

Definitely one of the funnier movies of 1997, Nothing to Lose brings together two very different characters from two different walks of life. It is a story about companionship and the mistakes that we are all apt to make if (and when) we make assumptions and jump to conclusions. Totally exaggerated, of course. So if you suspect a friend of sleeping with your wife, you can't always rely on a black man to erase all video evidence of your cutting his fertility god in two with a katana now, can you?

The guys are cute, and strongly amusing but only occasionally outright funny as many of the jokes seem forced or fall a bit flat. The premise and wrap up are pathetic, and the writing works to destroy the characters, rather than utilize or emphasize what appear to be their strengths.

A wacky 90s comedy with some great Oedekerk humor. Cast is pretty good (although Lawrence overacts ludicrously it actually works) and it's a quite charming and easily digested story. Has some fantastic moments, such as Oedekerk dancing as a night guard and some great lines from Lawrence. "Please don't kill me, freaky Jason!" Tim Robbins is great as the average joe.

Martin Lawrence delivers a fantastic, funny performance, with the help of Tim Robbinson's unfortunate life, makes for a good watch.

From his first line to his last line, Martin Lawerence is delightfully uproarious. Tim Robbins is surprisingly hilarious as well; the movie is just non-stop funny! "Please don't kill me, freaky Jason!"
