Noise

The material is a little dopey at times, but Saville's beautiful direction manages to sell it. He has absolute control over his camera and his pacing, and maintains a constant sense of tension and compulsion to see what happens next, even in moments that made my eyes want to roll (the Australianisms are very forced, and it gets pretty melodramatic at times). So yes, it has its flaws, but man, compared to the usual Australian drama standard, this is top-tier filmmaking.

with the crime happening up front and all that's left is the aftermath of a guy having a problem with ringing in his ears i thought this one was going to suck pretty bad, but it picked up the pace during the last half and ended with a bang. this one is a slow burn, but it's worth the wait.
