I'm not sure if I'm supposed to take it at face value or if it's a coy psychodrama, if he's really a retired killer or just a regular blue collar guy who barely missed the garbage three weeks in a row and receded into a dad-rage fever dream. Tonally it has one foot grounded in reality and one in self-aware tropes. When Hutch reveals his 'backstory' he appears to misremember - or is he making it up on the spot?

While no one will accuse this movie of originality, it was made with competence and Odenkirk pulls off the unlikely badass a hell of a lot better than Keanu, only without all of the coolness. If you're a fan of "John Wick", or have watched more than one "Death Wish", then you'll have a fun ride with this one.

You probably have a good idea of what is going to go on here, but it still ends up a lot of fun. Switch your brain off a bit in advance. Films that run for 90 mins are ideal for a midweek viewing...this one flies past. It's primary strength, apart from the well-trodden John Wick-style recipe, is the very watchable Odenkirk. Oh , there's the violence as well. Daft fun.

It's easy to call Nobody a ripoff of the John Wick series, especially when the same guy who wrote the John Wick series wrote this, too. But it still has its own identity at the same time, and an identity with a ton of vulnerability associated with it. Plus. I mean. You've never seen Christopher Lloyd like this before. A must-see!

John Wick wipes off his guns and straightens his suit, having just shot the goat herder who turned out to be a secret assassin and the goat who turned out to be a secret assassin. He must've seen my shit-eating grin and eye-roll. "What, something the matter?" he growls. "Not impressed with what happened back there? You think you can do it better, huh? Who can do what I do?" I pause a bit for dramatic effect while starting the car. "Oh, I dunno... Nobody." We drive off, and I try not to laugh.

Didn't realize how badly I needed Bob Odenkirk as John Wick. If you would have told me 15 years ago that a Mr. Show cast member was going to star in an action-thriller in 2021, I would have guessed Brian Posehn. The only major issue with this film is that it riled me up and I couldn't stop doing kung-fu moves for hours.

My Dad has been mentioning Falling Down more than socially comfortable while in traffic listening to the news on the radio, so it worried me when he kept asking if I’d seen Nobody while he’s taking out the garbage. This is the same escapist yarn weaving the same bloodied tropes: the family man cop sighing “I’m getting too old for this” with at least three more sequels in him. Violence as justification for suburban burnout.

Started off overly gritty in a very annoying way (“YOU NO VIOLENCE??? YOU BAD WEAK” - every character for like 15 minutes) but got better as it got funnier and more cartoony until eventually SPOILERS the end is just Odenkirk and Christopher Lloyd and the RZA going ham on a bunch of goons and it rules. Still wouldn’t work at all if Odenkirk wasn’t constantly selling the shit out of it. Every foreign person in this movie is either a criminal or a criminal with a Eurovision-esque club act.

This works extremely well if you don't have single clue about what to expect (ie no trailers or synopsis awareness) which is how I saw it. While obviously cut from the same cloth as John Wick, Nobody undoubtedly stands on its own and walks its own path in the 'retired legendary assassin' sub genre. The humour is dark but frequent and enjoyable, Odenkirk is an extremely likeable protagonist and it's difficult to describe how good it was watching Christopher Lloyd in support. I loved it!

It can't escape its cliches and its too short to truly be emotionally engaging but other than that it's pretty badass.Bob Odenkirk is so freaking good in this both in the action scenes(that he trained two years for!) and in the dramatic/intimidating scenes.Needless to say he nails anything comedic. The action is very brutal and adrenaline inducing, with clever directing and editing and a killer soundtrack.Everything you need for a super fun revenge flick.Oh and Christopher Lloyd is awesome.

From the writer of John Wick, with almost the same concept, but with far less impressive action scenes, barely any needed back-story or lore, and an awful tone that may seem edgy and humorous to Monster-drinking 13 year old boys. Odenkirk's actually a good fit for this role, but he's just wasted on this shit film. I can enjoy my revenge films, whether they're establishing a moral compass or simply being exploitative for our bloodlust, but this just fails at both.

Yeah a really good action film and even better than John Wick. Held strong by the action, particularly the first fight scene which blends realism with slapstick. Has some great transitions and overall just sort of fun action-hero stuff. Reminds me of The Accountant early on.

Ways in which it's weaker than John Wick: his reason for getting back in, the action sequences, the style, the main antagonist. But at the same time, it's still really entertaining and Odenkirk is definitely more believable in this role than I would have thought. So while it is certainly not as good as JW, it still deserves respect as an action flick because everything it does, it still does well.

Middle aged dad fantasy featuring Saul Goodman as some sort of sleeper super agent who goes buck wild after a home invasion threatens his family. Has a couple of cool, gritty action scenes (the bus fight is a particular highlight), but it's nothing special. The plot is somewhat muddled, as if important bits of story are just missing, and Bob Odenkirk isn't always terribly convincing as a tough guy. There's a fun Christopher Lloyd cameo but this flick fails to rise above "passable".

This is very much an 'all guns blazing' 'loud and proud' full on action film, for those looking for a fast paced, bloody violent centric action film. The story is fairly thin (from what I could tell) but its all about the effects, the explosions and the fights. If that's your thing then this will please you as a film, certainly. If you're wondering what John Wick 25 will be like the answer is this movie. It's a lean, fun, and well executed pot boiler that draws it's characters with a broad brush and strikes an almost perfect balance between outrageous action and sly comedy. Bob Odenkirk is perfectly cast as the last guy you'd expect to go on a rampage - his performance is the main draw here. As a side note, the choice of songs used in conjunction with the action set pieces is inspired.

Everything feels like John Wick starring an actor who one can't imagine in the role (& thereby making the transformation into hero that much more surprising & exciting) & so it came as no surprise that it was made by essentially the same team. I liked this better than the first John Wick film & I hope alot of Wick fans watch this. The fights were even more well thought out & inventive; the hero actually gets hurt; more tongue-in-cheek humor; & the Big Bad finale kill is fantastic. More please.

GIVE ME THE GODDAMN KITTY CAT BRACELET, MOTHERFUCKER! Am I alone in thinking the fight scenes without music are vastly superior to the ones with? I think I'm supposed to like this character but I don't know that I do. It's not Odenkirk, it's the character himself. This has style and is well-directed, with some humor to boot, but waits too long with its "villain". The "Home Alone" finale had its charm but I gotta say, this leaves plenty to be desired in terms of how much I hoped I'd enjoy it.

The acting is fine and I like Bob Odenkirk, but I guess I do not get the appeal of watching other humans get murdered in close-up detail. Cool, you can make the effects, got it. The story feels like suburban John Wick, and is pretty predictable; it's mainly just a lot of over the top violence with new and inventive ways to kill people. RZA's part also feels like a strange afterthought. Zero plans to ever rewatch this.

It IS like a more fun Wick, but for some reason I enjoyed the grit and humour more and connected with it. Odenkirk is just utterly loveable, and somehow, someway, he workds as an action hero. The style fits the mood, and voila! It does go off the rails towards the end, but I think it is forgivable. It does make me scared for the sequel as it has the potential to go overboard, we'll see.

Now I gotta use this life hack: pretend I'm a loser -- except I'm really a nobody, a loser lol. Pretty amusing, bloody fun and over-the-top comic book-esque actioner in the age of John Wick -- although not nearly as elegant as the former --, but filled with some welcoming Roth's Death Wish self-conscious, grinning-at-itself vibe. Being a fan of Bob Odenkirk's work I thought this movie would be of a different stature than the commonly unoriginal action/crime movie. Well not quite. It's a John Wick / Kingsman hybrid with less repetitive fighting scenes at best. I maybe giggled once or twice mainly when Christopher Lloyd was involved. Other than that, with a plot as thin as foil, it was a forgettable experience. I should give up on modern action movies at this point.

The filmmakers knew what they were doing with this and didn't overreach. In sum: John Wick meets the Equalizer in a tidy violence-revenge flick. Odenkirk's "Nobody" never quite lives up to his bogeyman reputation, getting by bloody and bruised by the skin of his teeth, but it is only the inconsistency that feels off, not the individual elements (which both have merit). It's John Wick + A History of Violence from the writer of John Wick and the director of the seriously underrated Hardcore Henry. Nobody is a lot of fun and is so close to being great but doesn't quite seal the deal. Nobody is as stupid as the trailers make it. Not overly surprising when you have David Leitch attached to the project (of John Wick fame) and in a lot of ways, this feels like an altered version of that franchise. It's highly entertaining, but so absurd that I could see why people might be drawn out of it, it has some really weak antagonists, and it has just enough character development to make you care about the main character. That's enough for me, I had a great time with this.

Dads being badass is often a humorous shtick that films will toss into a bunch of other jokes. It's a tired gag, so Derek Kolstad's screenplay extrapolates the action dad trope into an actual feature-length film about a dad protecting his family. Although, in reality, Nobody uses that as an excuse to go on a date with violence, allowing one last hurrah for the older guys that don't really have "it" anymore. If you're even a casual fan of action you've seen some version of this film a few dozen times at least, but this is a solid entry in the "secret badass forced back into a life he left behind" subgenre of action. Odenkirk is an interesting casting choice and carries the off-type action badass role about as well as he could. Who wins? Russian mafia or a family of rambos? I think y'all already know the answer given where this movie is made. It's your casual action movie with a main character who seems to be a casual suburban dad but turns out to be a monster, except that you have two more one man army guys. One black dude and a redneck grandpa, who somehow happens to be his family. If you like cheesy fight scenes and cliche mobsters, it passes the time. Though I'd rather watch Scooby Doo.
