puts the "mental" in experimental. it's more or less 90 minutes of upper class contemplation, loosely affiliated with the "reality" it obviously wants to promote. occasionally it hits home with a bon mot here and there, but while i get the attempt to break free of even the most basic confines of storytelling, those do exist for a reason. sorta felt like woody allen wrote the script to a malick movie, only with subpar visuals.
