A strange new virus has appeared, which only attacks strains of grasses such as wheat and rice, and the world is descending into famine and chaos. Architect John, along with his family and friends, is making his way from London to his brother's farm in northern England where there will hopefully be food and safety for all of them. Along the way, they encounter hostile soldiers, biker gangs, and all manner of people who are all too willing to take advantage of travelers for a mouthful of food. (imdb)

Acting and script weren't great, but overall premise was decent.

Quarantine-core. About as exciting as life in lockdown

I was expecting a serious sci-fi film, and while it is bleak and has a very cynical view of mankind, it also feels like a British exploitation film. It's also sort of a road movie, moving from location to next with a steady pace which I thought hinders the character development. It's definitely quite unique, but I haven't made up my mind if it's more of a missed opportunity than a hidden gem. Watching it during the Corona pandemic was almost a relief; at least we're not doing THAT bad!

Top badass moment? John Custance’s stiff upper lip; tougher than a Klingon's Bat'leth. Cool eye patch too. Also, the full-on Wild West shootout in, eh, northern England; and it was nice seeing a 29 bus to Wood Green, where it still goes to this day. The random, Rolls-Royce ad; quality product placement. Climate change gets a mention and a pre-Grace Brothers Miss. Brahms pops out as well. Unsubtle and unintentionally funny in a way only 70's movies can be. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

Wilde nails the weirdness but misses the terror that should be in everyone's eyes. Also, there's just an absolute shitload of grass everywhere.
