It's nice to see Nirvana again, and -- due to their philosophy, their music, their attitudes, their performances, etc -- to remember how lucky the mainstream was to have a band like them. The video has interesting interviews and great performances. What more could you ask for? Maybe it could be a little more cohesive, like someone else said, but I think, at least in my case, me agreeing with that would be me splitting hairs, because this succeeds in showing who Nirvana were.

More of an extended TV special than a movie; cobbled together in an ungainly and (for the uninitiated) confusing fashion, but does give a pretty thorough and immersive view of the band and its rise and roots of its decay (with some of Cobain’s later performances almost ear bleeding in their harshness). As a tribute to its lead singer, it deserves points for not being gushy or sentimental in the slightest, unafraid of showing Cobain (and the group)’s ugly side. Bump the score up if you’re a fan.

The films isn't very well put together but for fans it's definitely worth checking out for the footage.

Mixes a variety of performance footage with interview snippets, both genuine and tongue in cheek. Both aspects are interesting in their own way, but only sometimes do they complement each other. Often they seem to cut each other off, interviews cutting off the flow of the music and the music interrupting interviews when they seem to be getting somewhere. Interesting time capsule and insight into a music phenomenon, but probably doesn't stand on its own without cultural context.

I love Nirvana. And this is one of the best compilations of shows and interviews that I saw, pretty cool.
