Nintama Rantarô

At the beginning I was pleasantly entranced by the cutesy idiocy, but I think it overtook the film a bit before the halfway point and outstayed its welcome til the final scenes pretty much. While watching this I had such a feeling the Miike is really a genius of sorts, and there are few people who can crap movies like he can and feel so comfortable in just about any aesthetic mode. At least it is a 'remarkable' feat.

This is not a good movie per see but then again it was trying to be an over-the-top ridiculous manga-based kids movie and that's where this succeeded.

Great action, great comedy, very fun movie.
