Well done Italian gothic, with heavy emphasis on fetish-tinged images of Barbara Steele. It's worth noting this was one of the few times Steele did her own dubbing - albeit for only "half" her performance; she dubs the "good" twin character, but is looped by another actress for the "slutty" one.

Works in fits and starts - when it relishes in the husband's sadism or Steele's ghostly femme fatale, it succeeds. The rest just goes through the motions. I literally thought I was missing two reels, the narrative was so disjointed in places.

This movie was surprisingly good. I mean, not stellar, but better acting than I expected and an awesome dream sequence that actually made sense to the story. Bad dubbing and an Elvis-like lover are it's weaknesses.
