Come for the Christopher, stay for the Walken

Distinguished only by being the most nonsensical plot in the history of thrillers. The film repeats itself far too much, should be titled "Padded For Time".

The plot has no logic. Weird camera, as if in the full summer sun, the actors were still being illuminated by stadium lighting from two meters away.

Should have been black and white. Drabbest looking thing I've ever seen. Why have I watched this multiple times? It's not worth it.

John Depp showed less emotion than I do at a smile if you’re handsome contest. I guess the prick has to play a wacky fake cartoon character like scissorheads, pirate or ed wood to actually give a shit, I watched this with my family and though it was a slog and a half it was bearable because I had a great joke once it ended. “Nick of Time, More like Waste of Time!” I waited quietly for my moment only for my ten year old nephew to beat me to the punch with my own material. And of course it killed!

This was my certainly one of my first exposures to Johnny Depp and probably also Christopher Walken, but for some odd reason it's Roma Maffia that I remember best. I used to be so impressed by the real-time nature of the film, which now comes across as quite gimmicky.

Seen: 2. Cool gimmick with another fun Walken performance, but the execution is poor, leaving an unmemorable movie.

It's an okay thriller, but it's only worth watching once.

Real time thriller that's less gimmicky than many terrible films that proceeded it (e.g. 88 Minutes), but its flimsy narrative doesn't withstand close scrutiny, and it gets sillier as it progresses but never in an absurdist Depalma-esque fashion. It seems more like the outcome of poor choices rather than a deliberate stylistic approach, and Depp is really bland in the lead. Walken is entertaining as the villain, and Badham stages a few tense scenes, but overall it's just forgettable.

Badham made some fun action movies in the 80's, but 90's weren't good for him. Surprisingly, given that Depp is starring, I never even heard of this film before watching it. When Walken appeared on screen as mustachioed villain I got excited for a minute, but the movie is just so unbelievable that it manages to screw up very basic 'race with time' plot. Not really worth spending time on.

I must have just watched the lamest Johnny Depp movie ever made :(. No good acting involved here, just your standard Saturday night movie... Horrible script, horrible plot and weak execution.

Decent idea competently done. But I'll do anything for Walken, easily the best part of the film. Added 10 points

Nice reference to Potemkin but as for the rest it's terribly conventional.

Walken's facial expressions had me in stitches.

Competente atuação de Depp, ao passo que Walken vai além, elevando seu personagem ao protagonismo. Badham entrega um filme interessante, cuja metragem respeita as limitações do argumento. Uma produção eficiente naquilo a que se propõe.

A great homage to Hitchcockian thrillers. Johnny Depp made this movie into a decent omelet, instead of cheap scrambled eggs.

a pretty intriguing premise with two actors everyone wants to see work together goes wrong. The screenplay is so bad that this movie doesn't get too far off the ground.

It looks and feels like a 70s thriller. The acting is ok. The plot is very predictable. But. Some sequences and camera work are really stunning and save this movie big time. Worth a watch just for that.

An intelligent thriller capped off by Johnnys brilliance

The almost Hitchcockian setup is fine, but the film is lame and poorly written. Waste of good actors.

Embarrassing

A novel idea, and given the current television climate, ahead of its time. However, nothing else really sets it apart.

Would've been a great film, but the ending.

A film simple and quick. It's nice because everything that happens in real time, but everything happens too fast, could be further worked, the story is not bad. Johnny Depp and Christopher Walken are good, as always.

A paint-by-numbers thriller. The only thing that really sets it apart is Johnny Depp but that's not enough to really make it impressive.

decent but not very tense

It was cool that it just used the real-time gimmick without really beating you over the head with it, like certain other dramas using a similar device. But besides all that it really wasn't too incredible of a movie.

Watched this obsessively as a kid, back when I thought this was great cinema. Good times.
