This is pretty much a simple straight up no twist romantic movie. Most of the characters are pretty likable and there are a lot of funny lines in this. Very predictable as to what is always going to happen next, that doesn't really hinder the film. There are times when this movie really feels uncomfortable to watch. I mean some of the scenes lacked the fun of what this movie was really about. Don't look for any deep meaning or anyting, because this is simple. Look at it that way, and enjoy

I expected a funny, lovely story, but this is what I got: a self-absorbed indie picture -- lazily edited -- that goes nowhere, with a boring couple (Kat Dennings is hot, but unconvincing) and dozens of excruciating supporting characters.

This movie was really stupid. It shoves indie-ness down your throat. It has an underage girl who is hammered and is supposed to be some comic relief when throughout the movie you basically learn she is an alcoholic. Young kids drinking, yeah it can be funny because most of us did it at one time. Young kids who are already alcoholics...not so much. I laughed only a few times through the whole affair and they felt like moments where Michael Cera just ad-libbed a one liner. Not worth the time.

It was cute and enjoyable to watch. Basically another Juno, but not QUITE as good. Michael Cera plays Michael Cera, which was fine for me because I think he's hilarious, but he's going to need to be careful of always playing the same character because I think people will get tired of it at some point. Overall, I liked it and enjoyed the soundtrack.

It's okay. The previews seriously oversold it. I was so jazzed about this when it came out, couldn't wait to see it. Was, in the end, rather unmoving, despite my schoolgirl crush on both the male & female leads. The meh script, flaccid character arcs, hit or miss jokes and generally tepid personalities of both protagonists rendered a rather forgettable but inoffensive film.

Maybe somewhere there's a 17 year old who's just got back from a drunken night out and can somehow relate positively to this pile of shit, but the rest of us can only sit and ponder who got a blow job for green-lighting this incredibly boring, atrociously scripted, terribly acted and ultimately pointless mess of a movie. If I have to sit through another Michael Cera 'performance' again in my lifetime it'll be too soon.

It's time we call these movies unacceptable. Crap dialog, slow as hell, boring, and the excuse is they are real. Wait! I'll just go about my daily routine, clean the trash, wash the sink, scrub the toilet, and it will be equally as exciting/full of plot twists/and dramatic dialog. And it's all actually free instead of $18 after the drive to Walmart!

Hopefully Cera starts to steer towards new kinds of roles (unless he decides to do George Michael again) because he's definitely type cast as the awkward but likeable teen. He does it well but it's time to move on. Cute movie though with some nice touches. I yearn for youth which I guess these sorts of movies try to do.

I had high hopes for this film, despite its atrocious trailer, that it would be up my alley since I heard from various parties that this is the true John Hughes film of the 00s. Where John Hughes and Skins (UK Show) understands and respects teenagers, this film feels more like Harold and Kumar then anything else. No one in this film is a human being you can believe exists, they are all bizarre caricatures dreamed up by 40 year old SNL rejects.

Terrible. Tries to be another one of these fake indie movies that plays this poser, trite, music that is so embarrassing to people with an even remote knowledge of music. No chemistry, awful script, and you will feel awkward at least 5 times. The only positive about this movie was Kat Dennings' tits.

It just feels authentic. The core relationship is funny in a natural way, aided largely by the fact that Cera and Dennings have great chemistry together, and a script that plays them off each other marvelously. Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh provides a light and bouncy score in between snippets of the best indie soundtrack this side of Garden State. Some good laughs, and there's always a nice cameo to tide it through its lulls (Samberg; a silent Corrigan; Devendra Banhart!). A sweet little romance.

So what if Michael Cera and Kat Dennings are solid actors - they're in a lifeless movie. The characters are bizarre, the humor is thin as a silk thread, and there's even less plot. No one here is likable and everything is forced and put-upon. It's going for that quirky lovable 'Juno' feel but it never hits a right mark. The movie settles for very light and very lame. If it had an ounce of interest or more than a few laughs, it would be worth my time.

It's cutesy and mild - really a chick flick at heart - but approached with a non-cynical eye it definitely put me in a cheerful mood. It's funny and quirky without forcing the issues too much. It helps that I love Michael Cera and am a sucker for authentic New York City location shooting.

Watching this in 2022, it really felt like you had to be there--similar to most of John Hughes' works, right down to the aging humor, style, and musical trends of the hipster '00s. But even putting that aside, the story is too busy and clunky, and the performances (aside from a brutally funny Dennings) don't cohere. Still infinitely prefer this to TWO BROKE GIRLS.

The on-screen chemistry between Cera and Dennings is strongly reminiscent of that between Mendelsohn and Karvan in 'The Big Steal' (of which I am very fond) but maybe that's just me. This film has not aged well, by which I mean it had to be viewed at the time of its release (2008) to achieve full impact. However, the scene involving a mute Kevin Corrigan and inebriated Ari Graynor is delightful and timeless.

What starts as a grating portrait of young "hipsters" settles down and becomes more involving as it goes along, thanks to performances (and characters) by Cera and Dennings who become warmer and more likable as the film proceeds; Cera's mannered diffidence in particular has never been more genuinely appealing. If the beats here are nothing new, the package makes them fun; a nice evocation of pleasantly seedy nightlife with a good indie soundtrack make this a modest but surprising winner.

Perhaps if I had watched this when it had come out, and I were younger, I might have enjoyed it more. As it stands Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist is a dated RomCom that has a few laughs, a few sweet moments and a decent soundtrack, but overall is not good enough in any way to make it memorable. I found Cera and Dennings a little annoying, as is every character, making the film that much harder to like.

An unfunny mess that tries to be so hipster that the makers probably lost interest in their own film once mainstream people started talking about it. A bunch of students wander around the city having indie-pretension conversations and generally acting like they're in their mid-30s. The only 'comic' relief is a teenage girl suffering from chronic alcoholism who does gross and humiliating things because of her addiction. Hilarious, right?

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist is disappointing and not really worth your time. It starts off fine, but degenerates into a boring scavenger hunt with random scenes included in an attempt to hold our attention. If the soundtrack wasn't so much fun to listen to, a nap would have been a better use of my time. Like the blackout drunk character in this film, I would have preferred to sleep than sit through Nick and Norah's adventures in the middle of the night.

Kat Dennings is one of the most likeable young actresses out there today; she even makes Michael Cera slightly less Michael Cera-ish. Kat Dennings is so sexy, fuck me dead - she does "hot, awkward chick" so so well, and the scene in the music studio where she comes onto the set and walks toward Cera is just... so hot. Sollett's feature directorial debut was the richly empathetic Raising Victor Vargas, so it makes sense that the best moments of his follow-up cut through the din of overly busy, loose hipster comedy with nicely observant moments of how people struggle to connect with one another. The film effectively captures the way that high emotions are worn right on the surface of people on the precipice of adulthood. It sometimes seems to be trying for an urban fable effect, but that simply doesn't work.
