Farocki makes a strategic move and presents the audience the substructure instead of its effects, again eschewing oversentimentalizing his subject, which enables him to go to the naked reality. The reality is that science, technique and their intermingle with capitalist market economy is constituted of groups and individuals who can and should act against that mode of society/production. Hence, the burned flesh and dead Vietnamese are only consequences which would vanish easily once they act.
