Best bad '90s movie ever? I mean it's sort of the exact point where Hartley's Badlands fixation overlaps with early David Gordon Green's, and both somehow get crossed with a Lifetime Network movie of the week, but ends up kind of great anyway. Or maybe i just like seeing the parade of Hartley regulars doing cameos? The biggest weakness is Henry Thomas, who at 26 probably shouldn't be playing 18, but seems to be doing a Jeremy Davis impersonation the whole time anyway. Tunney is great, though.

One of those indie movies that throws down a sad ending so that it doesn't conform with Hollywood stereotypes, but it's just not very good. The whole point is that they drive across the country so they can get a Barbie head and one of the main characters ends up dying over it. Give me a break.

Quite the quirky drama, and a dark movie indeed. Portended a decade of similar "broken boy meets broken girl and they fix each other (or don't)" movies. A fairly honest presentation of Tourette's, too.
