I don't expect much from Chan's later movies, but was pleasantly surprised here. The fights, stunts, and random property distruction are reminiscent of his old Police Story movies, though less impressive (in 2004 Chan was 50 years old). In that way it felt like a throw-back, which I liked. However, the story was too over-the-top serious, cruel, and melodramatic, which I expect from some action stars but not Jackie.

A mixed bag, this one didn't keep the same caliber of stunt work and action as the first, but the plot is far more outlandish than the first installment, which is kind of why I watch Hong Kong movies in the first place.

I love Jackie Chan's character and the struggle that he goes through (even if circumstances that brought it about were so cruel as to be farfetched). Some of the action sequences, especially the one with the bus, were beyond the average level of believeability for an action movie. The evil Joe's struggle with his dad made me wonder why he didn't just deal with it directly. The romance subplots were stupid, but Chan's cop "partner" backstory brought everything together nicely.

Very painful to watch -- not only because of the cheesiness here that isn't present in Jackie's much better movies (Legend of Drunken Master, Operation Condor, Shanghai Noon, etc.) but because you can literally see Jackie's career die by the end. It's sad because it's obvious that he can do a lot better than this.

One great stunt sequence, one good fight, and almost two hours of HK melodrama and Jackie Chan crying. Skip it.

Way too long for this thin and stupid story, some typically cool stunts you'd expect in a Jackie movie, but unfortunately not enough and special enough to make the movie stand out in any way. “Just watch the stunts on Youtube or elsewhere and ignore the movie and you'll be better off”

This movie has two great action scenes. Jackie was still an international superstar but the movie business around him had changed. Golden Harvest studio was essentially dead. Self serious action dramas like The infernal Affairs were riding high and HK was copying the CGI-aesthetics of the Matrix. So as a result the physical comedy of Jackie is replaced by melodrama. Previously characters who could perform incredible acts of acrobatic action are replaced by studio mandated pretty kantopop stars.

The least interesting installment of the series. Epic stuntwork has been partially replaced by large amounts of melodrama and silly teenage bad guys sporting flashy haircuts.

This the fourth movie in the series has the best acting by far unfortunately the stunts and fighting are forced to take a back seat.

Good action in the beginning and the end. The middle part was somewhat boring. Not bad.

Not a great story, but the great stunts make this a fun diversion.
