Neverwas

Neverwas is a destruction of fantasy that takes a few nods from Don Quixote, but comes to the opposite conclusion. Eckhart is decent, Murphy has a youthful enthusiasm & McKellen acts circles around everyone else; yet the end was the only compelling part. A TV-movie feel about the cinematography & editing, through an over-use of panning shots & flashback-cuts derails the narrative tension. Coupled with Glass' good but unsubtly emotionally manipulative score, the film just isn't put together well.

in style a la The Fisher King

Video rental is the best place to find movies no one has ever heard about and be surprised rather positively. With some big names in the cast the movie keeps exciting and touching you and the story has all the ingredients to be excellent but it spoils too much of the mystery by being just touching.

Just not much to the movie. I was even let down in not being as let down as I expected to such an extent that I was more let down.
