If I had the choice of watching this four-hour documentary or spending sixteen hours watching the series in its entirety, I'd eat a tomato.

(Viewed in 12/12): An exhaustive 4 hour documentary covering the entire Nightmare On Elm Street series, Never Sleep Again features surprisingly candid interviews with key cast and crew members, as well as producers, who provide honest assessments of the relative merits and shortcomings of the individual films in this infamous franchise while reflecting on their cultural impact. At this length, it's strictly a fan only affair, but it's compulsively watchable for those suitably inclined.

Four hours?! Four motherfucking hours?! That's balls, folks. That's longer than the goddamned Godfather sequel that everyone raves about (but who secretly know it's kinda boring and sucks just a little bit). THIS on the other hand was a glorious sight to behold/labor of love that is actually extremely well done. The video equal of that crazy detailed/researched F13 coffee table book. On a superficial note, man have the women (especially those early in the series) of Elm Street held up.

Not going to lie I like this better then the whole franchise (Including The Freddy VS Jason Crossover) A little long for my taste and I would've liked the people interviewed to have more fun with it At any rate very informative and I'm sure Freddy fans will enjoy it

Fans of the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise should certainly enjoy this strangely addictive "best of"/"making of" series review of interviews and behind-the-scenes information style love letter that doesn't make you afraid to go sleep, but instead stay awake and marathon the series again.

I don't really know what I was expecting, but it's simply a "Making of", the stuff you usually find in the bonus features of your DVDs. Except that it lasts for many hours and covers the making of everything ever filmed about Freddy. I wouldn't call it a documentary, personally. The only interesting information was how Wes Craven got the idea. But that was like 5 min after the beginning. I'm not really sure why I watched the remaining 4 hours.

A four hour documentary but when you consider each of the 8 films of the franchise (the reboot was released later) all get their own 30 minute segment, it's difficult to see how it could have been any shorter. The clear 'chapters' actually make it easy to split the viewing into more manageable sessions, and I did this myself watching it across two consecutive evenings. The interviews and stories are interesting for fans of the franchise, of horror and general filmmaking. Highly recommended.

WHY DID I WATCH AND ENJOY A (mostly) SELF-CONGRATULATORY, 4 HOUR DOCUMENTARY ABOUT A FILM SERIES I DON'T EVEN LIKE? WHY DO I OWN THE WHOLE SERIES ON DVD?

While I found the discussion of the first film to be more than a little tiresome (It's a great film, but they talk about it as if it's "The Seven Samurai"), but once it gets to the lesser films in the series, the discussion is a lot of fun. Is 4 hours to long? Kind of ... by the time it got to the closing bullshit about the "legacy of the series" I just wanted to be done with it ... but it's an 8 film series, and a 1/2 hour per film is not too long.

Certainly provides enough coverage overall and has some pretty great stories and some good insight, but the way to film is so evenly spread between the film entries leaves it feeling a little directionless and maybe not as critical as it could have been - veers occasionally down memory lane rather than anything informative but you can tell that's only with the proper crap sequels.

So long you can feel the participants getting tired at the end, but a nice treat for the fans. Is awfully democratic with the coverage of the sequels, good and bad.

Good God is this in depth. This nearly 4 hour documentary goes into such incredible detail of every film in the Nightmare on Elm Street canon with great love for the series.

Well made, with lots of inside stories makes for an interesting (albeit very long) documentary. That be said keep in mind you will be hearing people wax nostalgic and point out important messages contained within some shit sequel or another.

Very long, but extremely well done. If you are a fan of horror and the Nightmare series (which should go hand in hand) this is a fascinating look into each movie.

Hours of people telling you how a job they had decades ago was lifechanging.
Perfect for people sick of reading the script, book, watching the movie, and tired of playing with the action figures.

An epic documentary about the Nightmare on Elm Street saga. One of the best documentaries out there and most likely the most definitive horror movie documentary of all time.

Almost a genuine reunion of all the minds, actors and technicians that helped make this series. The documentary moves at a surprisingly good pace despite it being 4 hours, but that's eight movies plus retrospective looks at New Line and the Freddy craze, which leaves about 20-30 minutes talking about each part. And they delve deep into each movie's writing, casting, sfx and everything. If you like any of the NoES series, this will make your day.

One of the greatest documentaries I've seen. It's four hours long and goes through interviews with the people of each film and I was never bored. I wish they showed more video clips of more on how they did what, but it was still informative and is a must see for people who are fans.
