MJW's as a tormented ex-MMA fighter who lost career/soul after family was killed in Katrina makes this watchable. But the plot -- despite some takes on police brutality and racism and a young guy dealing with his father coming out as gay -- is just a silly master-disciple dynamic about four guys being trained by him in order to fight an underground tournament organized by a nerdy Dana White. At least the fights look well-staged, with different techniques involved. Machida cameo is remarkable.

It's been over 6 years since I watched the original. That's seriously blown my mind. I can't even begin to fathom how that's possible. I thought maybe it'd been 2 years, 3 at the most. Goddamn, time flies. Anyways, this was way better than the first film, with Michael Jai White having a couple of pretty neat moments. Of course, he also directed it, but yeah. Some really bad understanding of MMA + dumb namedropping in here, but it was funnier than in the first. +5 for a terrible cameo by Machida.

This turned out to be a better film then I first feared it would be. I only watched this because I like Michael Jai White. This would've been a better movie if they concentrated on the "Case" character or hell any one of the main characters instead of making it ensemble piece in the vain of the much better "Best of the Best"

Some of the worst dialogues I've ever heard/seen in a movie. I think even 14 year-olds will think this movie is stupid. I'd say unless you are a girl between 11 and 13 don't watch this :)

Easy enough to watch without the first film. I still haven't seen the first film, and enjoyed this one enough. Basically it is Michael Jai White being a bad ass.

Train MMA for 3 or 4 days and you will be awesome! They take real MMA stuff and then add typical movie martial arts to it. I don't even mind that, it's nice seeing some basis in MMA reality. Acting is bad, the movie is more serious. The first had cool music and was pretty people havin' a good time with the whole production, this didn't feel like that, and it didn't do what it did real well. And they seem to just namedrop MMA things in order to be seen as 'legit.' At least Machida is in it.
