Neptune's Daughter

a thoroughly enjoyable movie, with some good songs and some good jokes, skelton is good, of course, and the rest of the cast holds up their end as well. i wish that there was more red though, you can never have enough.

Completely plotless, senseless and goes exactly where you expect everytime -- but be damned if it didn't keep a smile plastered firmly on my face for the entire running time, mainly thanks to a terrific quartet of stars whose inter-chemistry is red hot and infectious -- especially Skelton and (perhaps surprisingly) Montalban. Wonderful score is icing on the cake - especially the duelling duets of Oscar winner 'Baby It's Cold Outside.' Great, glorious fun!

"Baby, It's Cold Outside"! Hadn't heard this version. Nice to know its origins, though I enjoyed the rhythm number which followed it more. This is a entertaining double-flirt with Red Skelton/Betty Garrett for laughs and Ricardo Montalban/Esther Williams for the more romantic touch, with poor Keenan Wynn left out in the cold. Likable confusion, which only lacked that one or two big comedic moments to to feel like a old time classic.
