Dick Powell finishing off his Warner Bros contract with the type of film they always put him in. Light musical comedies. He's an stuck-up professor, a musical snob for only the good old stuff. Then the publishing company turns his composition into a commercial pop song and his reputation is shattered and he's forced disgrace himself to write hit songs for a living! Never a truly funny farce, but it's got such an fantastic supporting cast that it becomes enjoyable without the great material.
