Nana

They spend big money on this production with a excellent cast surrounding her and with Émile Zola's famous novel 'Nana' to showcase Anna Sten. And it's a flop. Their mistake was making her a copy. They made her act like Garbo with a Dietrich image. With that said, I did enjoy the movie. The production values are high and the scenes are well done with lots of good actors doing their job well. One can also enjoy Sten if one expect a milder variation of Nana.

Só a sequência de abertura já dá pra ver que a mise en scène será esplendorosa, focam tanto na Sten para falar sobre esse filme, mas esquecem que quem dirigiu o filme foi a proto feminista Dorothy Arzner, muito menos machista do que o Zola o filme se torna um pre-code quase no ponto.
