A single page of comic strip drawn out to 60 minutes. Dull as dishwater doesn't begin to cover the tedium presented here. Why it's called "Mystery Plane" at all is the only true mystery here. I did learn that brandy makes pilots act gay.

Monogram tries to capitalize on the once popular Tailspin Tommy comic strip making a total of 4 films of the character in 1939. Universal had tried it before with a couple of serials in 193 and 1935, but I guess they were not too successful considering little Monogram snapping up the rights. In fact the comic strip was about to loose it's appeal and by 1942 even the comic strip was canceled after a 14 year run. As for Mystery Plane (1939).... excruciatingly dull for a aerial crime adventure!
