My Sweet Satan

Amateurish in most respects. Slapdash, poorly shot and poorly acted, though the gore in the last scene was pretty decent. But I have to say there's a certain quality I like about it. It's got a charisma, a voice, a hardass "take it or leave it" attitude that I sort of appreciated. Maybe I'm sensing more of a potential quality than an actual quality, but I could see this being great if it was translated into a feature with a good budget.

Van Bebber's brand of no-holds-barred filmmaking delivers particularly uncompromised themes and images of horror and violence. I think 'transgressive' and 'provocative' are often misused adjectives (oftentimes with regard to minimally divisive arthouse movies) but I have a need now and again for something that challenges me in a way where I feel internally conflicted about its morality, and genuinely stimulates concern for the ethics of representing violence etc. Also FoG rulez.

This was pretty damn cool for what it was.
