My Neighbor Adolf

I enjoyed the concept of My Neighbor Adolf and the direction it takes, even if it's essentially a film about two stubborn, grumpy, argumentative old men who develop a friendship as they play chess. The film remains slow throughout its 90 minutes, but it has plenty of good moments thanks to strong performances from Hayman and Kier (who reminded me of Bradley Whitford). Worth a watch, even if it doesn't completely hit the mark.

I was expecting a casual comedy, got so much more out of it. First half was a bit slow but towards the ending it got me hooked up in a way only a few movies could before. Great acting, great characters, great story. It builds up to an ending which could make any grown man cry.
