talk about melodrama! kicks in full steam at around 1 hour in and does not let up for the next 1hr40mins. coming so thick and continuously you're left with no chance of any emotion sinking in before its trying to elicit more from you. this eventually turned me numb then turned me annoyed. completely butchers what could have been a relevant message in the film. also: never go full retard.

This movie will get two kinds of review, a rave or people denouncing it. With that out of the way, I would say this movie is yet another terrible Karan Johar movie. If you think this movie would be entertaining please look up the meaning of entertaining before you watch this. This movie is nothing but an extremely long melodramatic movie which portrays the directors lack in every aspect of the movie. The movie tries to take a serious theme and fails miserably. Recommended skipping of this movie.

The story is complex and exposes the deep rooted fears of Americans toward Muslims. The real star of this show is Mandira portrayed by Kajol. She lights up every scene she is in and steals the show. Khan is a strange duck, but at his core a genuinely good person hampered by a handicap that makes it impossible for him to interact with people normally. This was weird enough to hold my interest, and I may have learned something in the process. Worthwhile.

Movie has good points, messages and subliminal influentals but Screenplay and Director work is kinda poor and melodrama is just so much, so intense and our protagonist just too much perfect... You dont even have any choice or decision on that scenario.. But still is important film for muslim/islamic district of the world.

Sort of irritating and politically slanted at times. Inspiring nonetheless at other parts.

What a ridiculous screenplay. Students should see this for making "not to do list"...

This movie simply blew me away. Despite being quite long, the narrative, camera work and the acting was definately worth more than the movie is known for. I generally have mixed thoughts concerning Bollywood-esque, simple portrayal of feelings and kind of one-sided plot, but for the theme in this movie, it couldn't be better - that's the only perspective I want to see here! Both (!) lead actors made an Oscar-worth performance as well. A movie everybody should see.

-Yaklaşık 3 saat sürmesine rağmen oldukça akıcı bir filmdi. Özellikle senaryosu, verdiği mesajlarla çok özeldi. 02.01.2014/01:25 w, Buket, Gözde, Zuhal, Mehmet

Extraordinary, epic consideration of cultural and racial fall-out in the aftermath of 9/11 benefits from a completely fresh, unique point of view, and a seamless, confident mix of a variety of styles and tones (from the affected and odd but completely convincing performance from Khan, to a devastatingly emotional one from Kajol). Stunning widescreen cinematography only adds to the fairly simple story without dwarfing it; while it's a somewhat long haul, it remains never less than mesmerising.

If you're not opposed to the slightly precious portrayal of disability that we would usually know as "Oscar-baiting" and having some extremely dodgy english-speaking acting, then this is the Bollywood movie for you.

Karan Johar has no idea how to create conflicts that aren't over-the-top and ridiculous. Remember the Black Beast scenes from KANK? that wasn't much less subtle than what happens in this movie.

Very uneven, but when it's good, it's great. Starts out as a romantic comedy and slowly becomes a drama. Unfortunately the score is way off and ruins many scenes. It's also not very original, basically a Forrest Gump copy with a bit of Rain Man thrown in. I enjoyed it though.
